The firm is committed to utilizing the art and science of structural engineering to provide customized service to each client and appropriate, constructible solutions for every project. We specialize in building projects.

Helen Torres & Associates is a Minority Business Enterprise (MBE) and Women Business Enterprise (WBE). We are certified with the City of Chicago and State of Illinois. We are also certified as a Women Owned Small Business (WOSB) by the federal government.

About Helen
Helen Torres, President and Founder, has been practicing structural engineering since 1991. Prior to establishing her own firm in 2020, Helen spent nearly 30 years working for local and international renowned engineering firms. Helen’s experiences with other firms include design of new building, renovation and adaptive reuse projects in Chicago-land and across the country. Helen’s technical expertise has been formed by working on a unique blend of Science & Technology (research), data center, healthcare and higher education projects. Many of the projects were located on tight urban sites, with deep foundation challenge and technically challenging, structurally integrated, serviceability issues. Helen will bring her experience and expertise to your project team and participate in solving challenges and realizing the architectural goals.
Professional Licenses
Helen is a licensed Structural Engineer in Illinois and a licensed Professional Engineer in Colorado, Indiana, Ohio, Texas, Washington and Wisconsin.

SEAOI Building Codes Committee Member, 2016 to present. Helen became Chair of the Committee in September 2022.
SEAOI Women in Structural Engineering (WiSE) member, 2020 to present.
